About 224 species of medicinal herbs are found inside the park. Along with Nepal's national bird Danphe, 266 species of birds are found inside the park. Varieties of butterflies, moths, and insects are important parts of the Khaptad ecosystem. The park provides habitat for some 20 species of mammals, including barking deer, wild boar, Goral, Himalayan black bear, yellow-throated marten, leopard, wild dogs, jackals, Rhesus, and Langur monkey with 135 species of flowers that bloom in the summer and late spring

Khaptad is known as "a piece of heaven," a mystical and romantic place where Lord Shiva and Parvati enjoyed their honeymoon together. It is renowned for its diverse plants and animals, serene beauty, and spiritual significance. From ancient times, Khaptad has attracted spiritualists and naturalists to its untarnished natural beauty, rich cultural experience, and medicinal herbs. Khaptad Baba lived here for more than 50 years to meditate. He had a wealth of knowledge of medicinal herbs.
